High school students across the United States have the chance to spend an academic year, semester, or summer abroad in countries spanning Europe, Asia, the Americas, Australia, and South Africa through the ASSE International Student Exchange Program.
ASSE International, a nonprofit organization, aims to foster intercultural understanding and strengthen global friendships through youth exchange programs.
Students aged 15 to 18 are eligible to apply based on their academic performance, character references, and enthusiasm for cultural immersion.
Language skills are not a prerequisite, as students will learn through daily interactions with their host families and classmates in local schools.
Scholarships are available for qualified students, awarded based on academic achievement, leadership qualities, and financial need.
The program also extends to American families who can host international students from countries such as Spain, Italy, Germany, Ukraine, Thailand, and Japan.
These students attend local high schools for a semester or academic year, offering a cultural exchange experience for host families and their communities.
Interested students and families can learn more by contacting ASSE at 1-800-677-2773, visiting www.asse.com, or emailing [email protected].
ASSE International, formerly known as American Scandinavian Student Exchange, is a U.S. Department of State-designated Exchange Visitor Program.
Founded by the Swedish Ministry of Education, ASSE collaborates with Canadian Provincial Ministries of Education to deliver enriching exchange experiences.
