An 80-year-old man is dead after a fire destroyed a house on the 300 block of Lakeshore Drive North Saturday, Nov. 29, prompting a multi-department response and leaving two people in need of assistance.
Officials say the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Upon arrival, responders found the structure fully engulfed, with secondary fires involving vehicles and transformers reported. Explosions were also noted at the scene, according to witnesses.
Additional support was requested from Bandera, Castle Ranch and Medina Valley volunteer fire departments.
By 9:40 a.m., the fire was contained, though crews continued working to extinguish it completely into the early afternoon.
The blaze was declared fully extinguished at 1:25 p.m., with mop-up continuing several hours.
A justice of the peace declared an 80-year-old male dead at the scene.
