Chess enthusiasts compete at Medina Community Library tournament

The Medina Community Library hosted a lively chess tournament Monday, Nov. 25, with participants competing across three age categories: adult, young adult, and child.

The event, organized by library volunteer George Angelos, began at 9:45 a.m.

Players in each category faced off in three to four matches, with one pair requiring a tiebreaker to determine a winner.

The tournament results were as follows:

• Adult: 1st place, James Commack; 2nd place, Mike Simons; 3rd place, Percy Smerek

• Young Adult: 1st place, Grayson Cone; 2nd place, Garner Grabs; 3rd place, John Hutzler

• Child: 1st place, Caleb Sanders; 2nd place, Isaac Carleson; 3rd place, Duvall Taylor
