Symphony presenting annual pop concert

The Symphony of the Hills will kick off the new year with its annual Pops Concert, Epic Journey: Seas and Stars, on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2025, at 7 p.m. at the Cailloux Theater, 910 Main St.

A pre-concert wine reception for ticket holders will begin at 6 p.m. in the theater lobby.

“This season’s pops concert is devoted to the great music written about life’s greatest journeys in exploration, whether by sea or through the air and into space,” said Dr. Tim Summerlin, board president. “We will boldly go where no orchestra has gone before with music from Handel all the way to the stars!”

The 75-piece orchestra will perform a variety of works capturing the spirit of adventure and exploration, including:

• Handel’s Water Music (Hornpipe)

• Music from Titanic

• Pirates of the Caribbean

• Rogers/Bennett’s Victory at Sea (The Song of the High Seas)

• Gilbert & Sullivan’s

Overture to Pirates of Penzance

• Music from The Little Mermaid

• James Horner’s selections from Apollo 13

• Themes from Back to the Future

• Star Trek Through the Years The Symphony of the Hills is known for selling out its Pops concerts, and seats are expected to go quickly.
