Alamo RCD reschedules free food distribution

The Alamo RCD Area, Inc. Senior Assistance Program has rescheduled its next free food distribution to Thursday, Jan. 16, from noon to 1:30 p.m., due to severe weather this week.

The event will still take place at The Way Church, 7789 FM 1283.

The distribution will operate on a first-come, first-served basis, and supplies are limited. Each applicant must pick up their own items unless they have prior board approval.

The program’s next Lunch & Learn Potluck is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 28. Jessica Faubion, Family and Community Health County Extension Agent, will present “Be Well Live Well: Be Creative with Meal Planning.”

All programs are held at The Way Church, and exercise and arts and crafts supplies are provided.

Applicants must be 55 or older and reside in Bandera County. A 2025 registration is required, and applicants can register at the door or online.

The Alamo RCD is seeking monetary donations to purchase food for the program, which serves 10 counties in central Texas.

Donations can be made at alamorcd.org or by mailing a check to the address listed on the website.

Donors are asked to earmark contributions for the Senior Assistance Program.

Alamo RCD is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and all donations are tax deductible.
