On Monday, Nov. 13, the BHS Congressional debate team captured two of the three possible State-qualifying spots at the Regional meet held at La Vernia High School.
This is only Bandera's third year competing in Congress, and it is a very young team,” UIL Coordinator Emily Huber told the Bulletin. “However, a combination of talent and preparation allowed for a near clean sweep of the final placements.”
Individual awards went to sophomore Carter Rissmiller (sixth place); senior Steven Koonce (fifth place, second alternate); Isabella Chapa (fourth place, first alternate); Micah McCreary (second place, state qualifier); and Cassandra Steffler (Regional champion and state qualifier).
The UIL Congressional State Meet will be held Jan. 9-11, 2024, at The University of Texas at Austin.
