The Western Heritage Cowboy Church will be the site of the 5th Annual Murder Mystery Dinner Theater sponsored by the Bandera Eastern Star Chapter 643.
This year’s “murder mystery” will take place during the “roaring twenties.”
The event will be set in the Flapper Era. Dinner guests are encouraged to come in costume.
The audience participates in the Murder Mystery by carefully listening to the clues provided by the actors in the Roaring 20s-themed play. The Bandera High School Drama Department will perform the whodunit scenes between courses of the meal.
Interactive theatre programs have existed for centuries, but the Bandera Chapter 643 of the Order of the Eastern Star hosts the largest local Murder Mystery Dinner event in Bandera County.
While plenty of seating is available, this event usually sells out several weeks prior to the performance.
The evening will include an authentic four-course dinner prepared by the Bandera High School Culinary Department.
Door prizes, a quilt raffle, and a costume contest will also be a part of the evening. A free photo booth will be provided for souvenir pictures.
Proceeds from this evening of entertainment will go toward supporting local scholarships for graduates of Bandera County high schools. Each year, the Eastern Star awards two $1,000.00 scholarships to local graduates.
The proceeds from this community event also support several charitable Eastern Star programs in the local community. In addition to awarding scholarships, the Eastern Star participates in a shoes/socks project at local elementary schools.
Chapter 643 provides Cookies for Cops to local law enforcement groups including the EMS and fire departments.
The Eastern Star donates to Helping Hands in the Village of Hope and the Women’s Crisis Center.
The murder mystery event will begin at 7 PM on February 28 at the Western Heritage Cowboy Church, directly behind the Lakehills Public Library.
Tickets are $25 per person or a table of eight for $175.
The past four years have featured “sold out” performances, so it is recommended to purchase tickets early.
