Lakehills Area Library is hosting local artist Cheryl Alexander. Her handmade jewelry and sculpture will be on display until the end of February.
Alexander is not only an artist, she is also a yoga teacher. For more that 25 years, she has blended her art and yoga, teaching her work across several locations. She has taught art since 1971 and yoga since 1980.
Alexander spent several years in New Mexico, learning and teaching in the desert, in the mountains, and in the foothills, developing her craft and learning to understand the local cultures. She spent three years creating and producing The Heart of the Matter, sculptured renditions of the seven Chakras of yoga.
In 2008, she came back to her roots, in the Texas Hill Country. She settled on the Medina River and built studios for her jewelry and her sculpture. The natural setting provides peace for her yoga and meditation practice.
Alexander enjoys teaching “in a way that encourages others to become completely embodied in their own unique and often quirky creative selves, and to have a lot of fun doing that.”
All her works displayed in the library are available for purchase.
