BHS FCCLA shines

The Bandera High School FCCLA chapter had a standout performance at the Region V Leadership Conference and STAR Event Competition, held Jan. 30 – Feb. 1 in Corpus Christi.

Amber Sanchez took first place in Early Childhood Education, Daniel Mifsud placed fourth in Serving Up Success, and Kinzee Sperry, Morgan Sperry, and Jacob Tuma secured fifth in Chapter in Review Display.

All will advance to the state contest in April.

Other competitors included Juan Cabera, Hailey Barker, Riley Noon, and Abby Porter in STAR events.

Several students also excelled in FCSA testing, with Kinzee Sperry, Morgan Sperry, Ian Philips, Makayla Andreas, Hazel Cano, and Mikey Verhey earning gold, while Amber Sanchez and Lauren Meier received silver.

The chapter also made history with its first-ever regional officer, as Makayla Andreas was elected Region V Vice President of Correspondence.

“We are so proud of these students and cannot wait to see how they do at state and the rest of the year,” the chapter said.
