These events which nobody in the world thought possible actually came to pass in the United States of America: * Throwing off the King of England to create a new nation and self-rule. “Impossible.”
*Establishing universal suffrage. “Impossible.”
* Establishing universal free public education. “Impossible.”
*Ending slavery and segregation. “Impossible.”
* Granting workers the right to form unions and ending child labor. “Impossible.”
* Developing a professional and politically neutral Civil Service to administer our government and its services to the people. “Impossible.”
* Passing legislation to establish Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, a minimum wage, clean air and water standards. “Impossible.”
* Giving women control over their own bodies. “Impossible.”
How many of us favor returning our country to conditions that prevailed before these “impossibilities” were achieved?
