County Auditor Darryl Sadler presented the annual report on the county’s garbage collection stations during the Feb. 13 Commissioners Court meeting, detailing financial gains and losses for the past fiscal year.
According to Sadler, Pipe Creek saw a $14,000 gain, though this was down from the $26,000 reported the previous year.
Lakehills operated at a $10,000 loss, an improvement from its $13,000 loss the previous year.
Bandera recorded a financial gain, increasing its revenue by nearly $5,000 compared to the prior year.
Sadler said that Bandera absorbs all city trash from county government buildings, which Republic Services hauls away without generating revenue for the county.
Sadler reported that Medina experienced the largest financial downturn, with a $22,000 loss, more than doubling the previous year’s $9,000 loss.
Despite these fluctuations, Sadler said that overall revenue, including $16,000 in interest earnings, resulted in a net gain of $23,000 for the county’s garbage collection operations.
The report did not include recycling operations, though Sadler provided a brief financial breakdown: Pipe Creek: No revenue, $229 in expenses Lakehills: $3,500 revenue, $3,000 expenses Bandera: $11,000 revenue, $7,259 expenses (including grant funding) Medina: No revenue or expenses Sadler said the report provided a financial snapshot of waste management services across the county as officials assess operational efficiencies and budget impacts.
