The Bandera Kronkosky Public Library has been recognized with the 2024 Achievement of Library Excellence Award from the Texas Municipal Library Directors Association (TMLDA), an affiliate of the Texas Municipal League.
To receive the award, libraries must demonstrate excellence in 10 categories, including services to underserved populations, innovative marketing, community collaboration, enhanced public services, literacy support, digital inclusion, workforce development, cultural programming, professional training and other community-focused initiatives.
“The Bandera Kronkosky Public Library is committed to providing outstanding services, and this recognition highlights our dedication to meeting the needs of our growing community,” a library spokesperson said.
The library distinguished itself through a record-breaking summer reading program, the digitization of Bandera newspaper archives, new cultural programming for adults—such as murder mystery nights—expanded digital services, including eAudiobook and eBook collections and a new movie streaming service, the launch of its first winter reading program, and enhanced youth programming through the Tween Advisory Council.
Of the 542 public libraries in Texas, only 102 received the award in 2024, placing the Bandera Kronkosky Public Library in the top 19% of public libraries in the state.
“We are honored to be recognized and remain committed to serving our patrons with excellence,” the library stated in a release.
