Warriors Heart, a private treatment center for military service members, veterans, and first responders, unveiled a ceremonial cauldron Thursday, March 6, in honor of Col. Tre’ Irick, director of the Air Force Wounded Warrior Program.

The event took place at the Warriors Heart ranch in Bandera.

Warriors Heart Operations Director Zah Poteat and Shop Manager Joel Courtney were among those in attendance.

Handcrafted in the Warriors Heart Wood and Metal Shop, the cauldron was built by staff and program participants, including veterans and first responders.

It took approximately three months to complete and symbolizes the shared mission of Warriors Heart and the Air Force Wounded Warrior Program to help “warriors heal warriors.” It will serve as a lasting emblem of hope and resilience.

“Warriors Heart shares in our mission of making sure that we’re taking care of our first defenders as well as our military and giving them an actual place where they can recover and heal, and that’s what we’re doing,” Irick said.

The 2025 Air Force & Marine Corps Trials, hosted by the Air Force Wounded Warrior Program, will take place March 14-20 at Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph.

The Paralympic-style event features 11 sports adapted for wounded warrior athletes.

Winners will advance to the 2025 Department of Defense Warrior Games later this year in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

The Air Force Wounded Warrior Program provides non-medical support to seriously wounded, ill and injured service members.

Since its inception, the program has assisted more than 20,000 veterans.

Warriors Heart offers residential treatment for military personnel, veterans, and first responders struggling with addiction, PTSD, and other co-occurring conditions.

The Wood and Metal Shops are part of its 42-day program, helping participants develop new skills and rebuild confidence.
