The FCA is a 501(c)3 non-profit, all volunteer organization, founded in 1948. Their goal is to educate the public on end-of-life planning. They are dedicated to serving consumers in how to purchase affordable funerals. They provide information and support to help navigate the funeral process with confidence.
The San Antonio area is affiliated with the National Funeral Consumer Alliance of America, the organization that monitors the funeral industry, advocating for fair practices and educating the end-of-life planner. They receive no funds from the government.
The FCA in San Antonio is reaching out to all surrounding counties in an effort to inform others of simple, meaningful, and affordable options to an expensive funeral. To that end, they will do presentations for any group. Hence, Bandera County residents now have an opportunity to learn more and benefit financially.
Membership in the organization is $40 and it lasts a lifetime. All are welcome at the annual meetings, which are held in March. The next meeting is Saturday, March 22, from 1 to 3 p.m., at University Methodist Church, located at 5084 DeZavala Road, San Antonio.
Their website is funeralssatx.org. The phone is 210-341-2213. Check them out on Facebook.
While it is true that none of us gets out of this alive, it is our heirs who must foot the bill. Many of us would like to make that easier on those heirs, leaving them more to actually enjoy.
