March has been a busy month for the Hill Country Cattle Women.

On March 8, members of the organization prepared a hamburger lunch for the Hill Country Youth Ranch in Ingram, an annual event that is a highlight for both participants and attendees.

The meal included hamburgers with all the trimmings, chips, and cookies, serving approximately 75 youth and staff members.

After the meal, volunteers toured the ranch facilities, which span 600 acres. This year, the ranch introduced an equestrian therapy program.

On March 13, three members of the Cattle Women participated in Bandera County Ag Day, speaking to more than 100 fourth-grade students from area schools. Their presentation focused on beef byproducts, showcasing the many ways cattle contribute to everyday life.

Students were surprised to learn that nearly every part of a cow is used, from leather rugs and plastics to insulin.

The group shared a common saying: “The only thing not used in a cow is the ‘moo.’”
