Wine room celebrates opening with community, local flavor
ACE Wine Room owners Eric and Alyssa Cothran receive their chamber plaque from Bandera County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director James Hernandez at the location’s grand opening.

ACE Wine Room held their grand opening Friday, March 7, to much community support, including from Mayor Denise Griffin, city councilmember Lynn Palmer and Bandera’s Chamber of Commerce.

The wine room, started by Bandera locals Eric and Alyssa Cothran, holds a wine selection from local wineries in Fredericksburg and Comfort, Texas.

“We’re big on supporting local,” co-owner Alyssa said. “We also have frozen sangria, rosé, and a beer menu. Our kitchen offers paninis and charcuterie food options.”

Alyssa and Eric first met each other in school, but did not officially start dating until January 2010. By April, Eric proposed, and the couple were married the next month.

Even though the couple “swore to never come back to Bandera”, Eric, after serving nine years in the Navy, received a job opportunity in San Antonio which brought the couple back home.

“We tried to stay away, but we wanted to be close to family and friends and raise our son the same way we grew up,” Alyssa said.

The couple paid tribute to their family in the name “ACE”, which stands for Alyssa, Carson – their son – and Eric.

The location, which used to be a hair salon, is under contract with Texas Design Landscapers to construct a wine garden at the back of the property to accommodate more guests. Inside, there is seating for up to 40 guests, with a front patio that can seat a handful more.

The business is available for rent for private events, pricing dependent on the type of event.

The wine selection has 10-15 types of reds and 1015 types of whites, mostly dry with a few sweet options.

For those wanting to try different types of wine, there are available tasting options on the menu, along with dessert port wines and a bucket of 6 beers, which can be mixed and matched or be the same.

ACE wine room plans to be heavily involved in the community, having already hosted a paint and sip event this past weekend and holding a Girl Scout Cookie and Wine Pairing event on Wednesday, March 26, at 6:30p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Tickets are on sale for $25 per person, and can be purchased at https://www. eventbrite.com/e/girl-scoutcookie- wine-pairing-tickets-1246354753619?aff=ebdssbdestsearch.
