Medina athletes shine

Medina ISD celebrated a week of victories from March 17-22, as the district’s teams excelled across multiple sports.

The softball and baseball teams both earned perfect records with 2-0 weeks, tennis players brought home multiple medals from the Sabinal Tournament, and the golf team finished as runner-up at the Leakey Tournament.

In softball, Medina defeated Menard 27-5 and Richland Springs 16-5. Hallie Kunz and Kailey McCabe led the offensive charge against Menard, while Audrey Gatlin contributed 4 RBIs.

Against Richland Springs, Kunz went 4-for-4 with 3 RBIs, and Hattie Barton struck out 5 batters to secure the win.

The Bobcat baseball team triumphed over OLH-Kerrville 15-5 and Leakey 5-4, with Anthony Silva earning 3 hits and 3 RBIs in the OLH game.

Davis Peterson’s 16 strikeouts and Ty Jones’ save sealed the Leakey win.

Medina’s tennis team also had a successful showing at the Sabinal Tournament, with several athletes earning medals, including JT Kunz (3rd in Boys Singles), Ella Castillo (4th in Girls Singles), and Makenna Gourley (2nd in Girls Singles).

Meanwhile, the golf team placed runner-up at the Leakey Tournament, with Davis Peterson earning 3rd place individually.
