Nagel announces scholarship fund for future health professionals

The Arthur Nagel Community Clinic has launched the Nagel Clinic Guild Scholarship Fund, which will support one graduating senior from a high school within the clinic’s service area who plans to pursue a career in the health professions.

“Considering the benevolent love and support that this community has shown to the Nagel Clinic since its founding 18 years ago, this small but important investment in the future of a Bandera County student will pay dividends in the years ahead,” said Chuck Lutke, the clinic’s executive director. “That student may want to return to Bandera County to serve as a nurse, doctor, PA or NP for this community. We are excited about following the careers of our Clinic Guild Scholarship Award recipients.”

To support the initiative, the Clinic Guild will host a Scholarship Luncheon at noon on Wednesday, June 18, at the Village of Hope Events Center, 1116 12th St. The event will feature Dr. Saleh N. “Doc J” Jaafar, medical director for the Nagel Clinic and Bandera Family Practice Clinic, as the special guest speaker. Jaafar will discuss his work in rural medicine and take questions from the audience.

Tickets for the luncheon are $50 for the general public and $40 for Guild members. Seating is limited, and reservations will be available starting Monday, April 14. For more information, call (830) 796-3448.
