Get ready for an exciting journey through time with the Smithsonian’s Museum on Main Street (MoMS) exhibit, Crossroads: Change in Rural America, coming to Bandera from June 21 to July 26 at the Bandera Middle School Cafetorium.
This prestigious event, a collaboration between the Smithsonian Institution, State Humanities Councils, and the Texas Historical Commission, is one of only seven selected in Texas. This exhibit is a fantastic opportunity to dive into the rich history and evolution of rural America.
With themes like Identity, Land, Community, Persistence and Change, you’ll explore interactive displays that make you think, talk, watch, listen and get handson. It’s not just about looking back; it’s about understanding how these changes shape our future.
Local organizations, including the Bandera County Visitors Bureau, Frontier Times Museum, Bandera Natural History & Art Museum, Bandera County Historical Commission, and many more, are coming together to create unique exhibits and programs that tell Bandera County’s special history. Even if you’ve lived in Bandera your whole life, you’ll discover new stories and insights that will surprise and delight you.
We need enthusiastic volunteers to serve as docents at the Bandera Middle School and Pipe Creek Community Center. This is your chance to be part of something special, learn new things, and help share our community’s story. Volunteers will be vetted and trained to ensure a great experience for everyone.
Don’t miss out on this once-in-a-lifetime event! You can call the Bandera County Convention & Visitor’s Bureau for information regarding the MoMS exhibit at 830-796-3045.
