The Book Sale is Saturday, April 5, from 10 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. in the library meeting room.

There will be no Book Sale in May, getting ready for the big Fundraiser Gala, “Kentucky Derby Day Benefit.”

The Annual Fundraiser is coming up on Saturday, May 3, from 4 to 7:30 p.m. That is Kentucky Derby Day and everyone is invited to purchase tickets at $50 each, which includes food, beverages and live entertainment. Attendees are encouraged to wear their Best Bowties and Fancy Derby hats, while they enjoy refreshments, Mint Juleps and watching the horses run. Tickets are available now for the event; and for the raffle prizes, which are $5 each or five for $20. In addition, there will be a very small and selective Silent Auction; as well as games with prizes. Stop by the library to purchase your tickets.

Pre-School Story Time is every Wednesday, 10:30 a.m. to noon; except that April 2 is canceled due to the Director being out of town.

National Library Week runs from Monday, April 7 through Saturday the 12th. The library has some special events for our patrons that week, including popcorn on Monday, cookies on Wednesday, ice cream or snow cones on Friday, and a Bring Your Own Picnic to the playground area on Saturday. In addition, the library will provide sidewalk chalk for artists of all ages to leave their creations on the walking track; and there will be a scavenger hunt inside the building.

“Mosaic with Sherry Hearn” will return on Saturday, April 5, which has limited space. The cost is $48 per person. Contact Sherry Hearn at 210-355-6318 for information or call the library to register.

“Healthy Carbohydrates” Class will meet on Tuesdays, April 1, 8, 15 and 22, from 11 a.m. to noon. It will be taught by Jessica Faubion from the AgriLife Extension Office.

Garden Club will meet Saturday, April 12, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The Ag Extension agent will help with Soil Testing. The program is free; the public is welcome.

Artist of the Month is the class of Hill Country Elementary art teacher Kathleen Bryant. The students will exhibit their works through April.

Yarn Club is for those who crochet, knit, embroider or other hand craft. They meet every Friday, from 12:30 to 2 p.m. in the library meeting room.

Christian Classic Literary Book Club meets every first and third Friday, April 7 and 21, 10 to 11:30 a.m. to discuss “The Screwtape Letters” by C. S. Lewis. On the 21st, the group will meet from 11 to noon.

Benefits Enrollment Center, brought by Silver Sage, will be available Wednesday, April 9, 10 a.m. to Noon, to provide application assistance for those over 65 or disabled.

Board meeting is Wednesday, April 9, at 4:30 p.m. The public is welcome.

Evening Book Club will meet Tuesday, April 22, at 5:30 to discuss “The Women” by Kristin Hannah.

The library hosts other events and offers many services, such as Libby and Boundless, faxing, copying, laminating, notary, scanning, free Wifi, DVDs, and interlibrary loans. They also offer ebooks, audio books, and large print books. They offer Genealogy, with access to Ancestry.com.

Their hours are Monday, Wednesday, Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Tuesday, Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
