A Bandera County Commissioner drove the truck involved in a fatal collision last Thursday that claimed the life of a Utopia man, investigators said.
"Preliminary investigation indicates that a 2019 Dodge Ram 2500, occupied by Troy Konvicka, was traveling southbound on SH-16 when a 1999 Toyota Tacoma pulled onto the roadway from a private drive and collided with the Dodge," Texas DPS Sergeant Deon Cockrell said. As a result of the crash, the driver of the Toyota identified as Andrew J Uzdavines, age 78 from Utopia was pronounced deceased on scene."
Konvicka began his term as Bandera County Commissioner for Precinct 1 in January, running unopposed on the November ballot. He won the Republican primary leading up to the general election with 708 votes (55.57%) over Michael Devine, who received 566 votes (44.43%).
Troy’s wife, Karen, posted on Facebook Thursday following the incident.
"People have been calling and i Just want to let everyone know that Troy Konvicka was involved in a car wreck this afternoons but he is okay. Prayers for all involved. Thank you. [sic]"
The Bandera County Sheriff’s Office and Bandera County EMS also responded to the crash.
