The Museum of Western Art in Kerrville is set to host its 42nd Annual Roundup Exhibition & Sale, kicking off April 25 with a weekend of events and 187 original artworks available for purchase.
Executive Director Darrell Beauchamp calls the fundraiser a “blockbuster,” highlighting the 76 artists featured this year, including first-timers and returning favorites.
Among them is Michael Dudash, president of the Cowboy Artists of America, who will debut at MoWA with his award-winning Western-themed oil paintings.
Also returning is sculptor Gene Zesch, known for his humorous cowboy caricatures. Now 93, Zesch will showcase three painted bronzes created using the lost wax method.
Nineteen-year-old Eliza Hoffman will make her Roundup debut with two oil paintings. A University of Texas student and graduate of the Western Art Academy, Hoffman has already earned national attention and was recently commissioned by NASA.
Roundup weekend includes artist meet-and-greets, educational programming, a Friday night awards banquet, and Saturday evening’s box-draw sale.
On Sunday, the Cowboy Artists of America Garden will welcome three new inductees—Dudash, Todd Connor and Albin Veselka—during a public dedication ceremony.
Free daytime activities on Friday and Saturday include trick ropers, shootout reenactments, horse encounters, and art demonstrations from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Award presentations will honor top artists with Director’s Choice, Patrons’ Choice, and a new national honor from Art of the West magazine.
“This is a unique opportunity to meet artists shaping the Western genre and to start or grow your collection,” said Beauchamp.
