Bandera Library Happenings

Is this not the weirdest week of the year? You don’t know if you’re coming or going or how that piece of cheese got into your hand.

Is this not the weirdest week of the year? You don’t know if you’re coming or going or how that piece of cheese got into your hand.

While the library is open this week, we too do not know what all is happening. Therefore, programming has been put on hold until the beginning of January.

The library will be closed on Monday, Jan. 1, for New Year’s Day. Everyone here at the library looks forward to all we can accomplish together with our community in 2024.

What are your goals for 2024? Is there something you want to learn or maybe reconnect with a hobby or skill you haven’t had time for before? Please let us know what you are working towards in the New Year and the library can help you achieve those goals.

We have a huge variety of books and programs, but if there is something you have noticed is missing from the collection please let us know!

It may be that you are looking for an opportunity to give back to the community. Consider becoming a volunteer for the library or the Friends of the Library. You can pitch in as little or as much as you would like.

Calling all SciFi fans! Jan. 2 is officially recognized as Science Fiction Day. We will have a whole shelf of recommended Science Fiction titles on the featured wall, so if you’re a seasoned Sci-Fi aficionado or if you’re SciFi curious, come check out a few titles!

With the new month beginning we have our two regular events that are always a great time. On Thursday, Jan. 4 at 10 a.m. the library’s Monthly Book Club will meet in the Texana Room to discuss this month’s selection.

The group will be discussing Karen Joy Fowler’s book “Booth”. This historical novel is about one of the most infamous people in American history: John Wilkes Booth.

The novel tells Booth’s humble and at times tumultuous childhood growing up in one of the foremost families of American theatre. How does he go from the lights of stages and Shakespeare plays to shooting President Abraham Lincoln? It will sure to be a great discussion.

Save the date for our monthly Book Fair hosted by the Friends of the Library on Saturday, Jan. 6 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. All kinds of books, movies and puzzles will be available by donation. All of the items are new or gently used and the proceeds go towards buying new books for the library. Get a great deal and also help support the library.

The Bandera Kronkosky Public Library is open Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Curbside service is available upon request. Free Wi-Fi is available 24/7.

Stay up to date with library events by following us on social media (@BanderaLibrary), or sign up for our monthly newsletter through our website at www.banderalibrary.org.

Happy tales, y’all.
