“I am humbled and honored to serve as the GOP Chair for the remainder of the unexpired term of our former Chairman, Mr. Conrad (Butch) Striegl.”
The first message from David Allen graced the monthly newsletter of the Bandera County Republican Party, noting his new position in the party.
Chair Conrad Streigl and Treasurer Cari Rene Leith recently vacated their positions in line with their probation requirements following a no contest plea to felony charges regarding fraudulent securing of document execution.
Allen was chosen in an executive session of the party last month.
“Butch did an amazing job and continues to work with our State and Federal officials to further the conservative agenda,” continued Allen in his statement. “I consider myself blessed to have served under him as Precinct 409 Chair for the last year. He is a proven fighter and a friend.”
Allen’s full statement and the rest of the party’s latest newsletter are available at banderacountyrepublicanparty.com.
As of Tuesday, Nov. 7, the Texas Secretary of State’s website still lists Striegl as the party’s chair. The Secretary of State told the Bulletin updating that information is the responsibility of the local party.
Striegl was elected in 2022 and ran unopposed. The position will be on the ballot this March.
Allen was unanimously chosen by the party leaders last September as Precinct 409 Chair, vacated after previous chair Kevin Holdsworth resigned due to a move. Striegl said at the time that Allen was fully vetted by the leadership.
At the Bandera County Republican Women meeting last Thursday BCRW President and Party Precinct Chair Dede Skoglund was praised by the group for her leadership during the meeting to select a new Republican Party Chair.
President Skoglund was recognized for her skill with parliamentary procedures and diplomacy in helping select Allen as the new Bandera County Republican Chair.
The next meeting of the Bandera County Republican Party is Thursday, Nov. 9, at 7 p.m. at the BEC Meeting Room.
