Some good seats are still available for the Symphony of the Hills’ pops concert “Pops and Popcorn: A Night at the Movies” on Saturday, Jan. 6, at 7 p.m. in the Cailloux Theater, 910 Main, Kerrville.
A wine reception for ticketholders begins at 6 p.m.
The Saturday night concert will feature great orchestral music that has accompanied some of the most popular films of our time, according to Dr. Eugene Dowdy, Conductor and Artistic Director.
“Our Pops Concert features the great orchestral music that has accompanied some of the most popular films of our time,” Dowdy said. “They have proven to be worthy as stand-alone concert works in the same way that opera and incidental music might remain more popular than the play or opera ever were. You will see titles on this concert by some of music history’s finest composers, including John Williams, whose complete orchestral suite from Star Wars we will perform.”
The evening’s musical program includes:
• Mancini — Music from Charade
• Barry (Arr. Rosenhaus) — Dances with Wolves, Concert Suite
• Arr. Custer — Somewhere in Time
• Arr. Phillippe — Band of Brothers
• Gregson-Williams (Arr. Lopez) — Wonder Woman
• Elfman (Ed. Bartek) — Batman Theme
• Legrand (Arr. Fink) — Brian’s Song
• Morricone (Arr. Morley) — Cinema Paradiso: Love Theme
• Williams–StarWars Suite Seats always sell out for this “Pops” concert.
