On Tuesday, Jan. 9, the Hill Country Chapter no. 31 of Texas Society Sons of the American Revolution will hold its monthly chapter meeting at Rails, a Café at the Depot Event Center.
The speaker for the meeting will be William Patrick 'Pat' Blackman. Pat is a native Texan, born in Brownsville, who grew up in New Orleans and graduated from Louisiana State University.
In 2004, after completing a 42-year career in business-to-business advertising, public relations and corporate marketing in Houston, he and his wife Jackie retired to Boerne, where they have been involved in church activities and community volunteer work while at the same time finding time to spoil their four grandchildren.
Pat is a lifelong student of world history and has a particular affinity for American history.
“I don’t claim to be a historian in the classical sense of the word because I don’t have a degree in history,” claims Pat. “I’m just a guy who’s loved history since childhood and studied it ever since.”
He is the immediate past president of the Boerne chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution and is also a member of the Civil War Preservation Trust and the Kendall County Historical Society.
The public is invited to hear this informative presentation and to find out how to become a member of the Sons of the American Revolution.
