The Bandera County Commissioners will convene Thursday to, among other agenda items, review proposals for demolition/clean up of the Old Courthouse and Jail.
Commissioner Jack Moseley told the Bulletin earlier this month that six contractors showed up at a pre-bid meeting and tour of the location on Jan. 6.
The commissioner added at least one other contractor submitted for consideration.
“We are hoping to keep the work local, but we’ll choose the contractor who is best for the job,” Moseley said.
All proposals will be reviewed at the Jan. 25 meeting of the Bandera County Commissioners’ Court.
The demolition phase of the project will be followed by stabilization and then refurbishment/restoration, according to Moseley.
Moseley added the county hopes the contractor who does the demolition phase will also be the one who takes care of the other phases of the project.
“We hope to be done by 2025,” he said.
One the project begins, Moseley expects zero impact to traffic, though he notes that parking at the icehouse will be lessened.
The court meets at 10 a.m. at the Bandera County Courthouse the second and fourth Thursday of the month.
Other agenda items for the meeting include discussion on repairing inoperable doors at the EMS station, discussing rpairing Patterson Street Bridge in Medina, reviewing surplus property, appointing a County Investment Officer, accepting a donation and reviewing rules for use of courthouse lawn.
