The Bandera ISD school board unanimously approved a four-day school week for the 2024-25 school year during their monthly board meeting on Monday, Feb. 12.
Board President Brittany Hicks said the plan is a one-year plan and will be adjusted moving forward as they see how it plays out.
No citizen's comments were made regarding the agenda item.
Last December, a presentation from the Bandera Middle School and High School principals detailed that a four-day work week would help address teacher shortages and poor retention, cut operational costs and allow students to work jobs on Friday.
Beginning in 2024, Friday attendance will be required during only August..
The school day will be extended by 10 minutes in the morning, 25 minutes in the afternoon.
Staff will come in on some Fridays.
