The Bandera County Republican Women sponsored a “grill and chill” for local voters to meet the Republican primary candidates.
Hotdogs and hamburgers were offered by donation along with drinks and chips.
The crowd of over 80 enjoyed the food and listened avidly to the candidates as they were given two minutes to speak directly to the crowd.
The candidates who attended were Dave Allen, Laura Briscoe, Brandi Conover, Troy Konvicka, Laura Neely, James Popham, John Schulze, Dede Skoglund, Greg Spengler, Conrad Striegl, Josh Teitge and Wes Virdell.
All Republican primary candidates were invited to the forum.
Bandera County Republican Women President Darcy Hasty opened the forum and welcomed the crowd to the Silver Sage.
She outlined the format of the meeting and talked about the process. She recognized the Bandera County Republican Chair, Dave Allen.
Each of the thirteen Republican candidates used their two minutes to briefly introduce themselves and outline their concerns for the county or their precinct.
After the introductions, the candidates chatted with audience members who crowded around.
Audience members were encouraged to take any literature provided by the candidates.
Hasty exhorted the audience to register to vote. The Republican Women provided a table and materials to register.
The Bandera County Republican Women meet on the first Tuesday of each month at the Silver Sage Dining Room.
The social hour with snacks starts at 5 p.m. and the meeting begins at 6 p.m.
