It seems that a lot of people are seriously selling President Biden short in terms of his competence. Many are saying he is too old and feeble, he makes terrible gaffes, plus he has a mean dog and as such that he should not be President. However, if you listen to the Republican voices, particularly the one from Donald Trump, you should be thinking differently.
Let’s start with Trump’s whine that Biden and his cronies stole the 2020 election. Biden was so clever in engineering this colossal feat that not even multiple legal proceedings and scores of investigations by Trump loyalists have been able to uncover how he pulled it off.
Biden has cleverly opened the border to bring in potential Democratic supporters from other countries (even though they can’t vote or use the US safety net). It has kept Republicans fuming so he can get things like student debt relief and prescription drug price controls slipped past them. He also worked with sane Republicans to get the biggest Infrastructure Bill ever through Congress. He even cleverly agreed to Republican demands to get tough on the border, ostensibly to get Ukrainian aid, knowing full well the MAGA extremists would kill the deal and thereby give Biden the high ground on the border issue.
It is amazing how he got the Department of Justice to go after Trump for inciting an insurrection PLUS Trump’s hoarding and hiding of government documents PLUS the state of New York to go after his business dealings PLUS one of Trump’s sex crime victims to go after him relentlessly. She has really taken Trump to the cleaners and along with New York’s $355 million fine for business corruption; it will take a lot of Republican campaign funds to keep the Donald afloat.
Biden even let his Justice Department investigate himself and chastise him as being “a well-meaning elderly man with a poor memory.” This is obviously a cover-up to make it seem like he does not have total control over the Justice Department like Trump says he will enact.
Biden’s scheme in Georgia to prosecute Trump using mainly Republican officials as witnesses to substantiate Trump’s crime to overturn the Georgia election results is so smart. As a state crime that Trump committed there, it cannot be pardoned at the Federal level.
We shouldn’t be surprised if he helped Trump meet Stormy Daniels to have dirt to pull out on Trump even before Trump was a candidate. He undoubtedly knew Trump’s cheating and sexually perverse ways and how they could be exploited.
Then having the lowest unemployment rate, a booming stock market, a soft landing for the economy from the inflationary spiral set off by the pandemic, those are apparently just easy/peasy things for the old man. The inflation impact in the US has been less than the Eurozone and the recovery has gone faster.
Rallying the western democracies to defend Ukraine from the invasion by the Donald’s mentor; it had to be a piece of cake. Despite his “well-meaning” moniker, actions like these are positive political fodder that his team will harp on and drive Trump to continue to ramp up the easily refuted lies he loves to use.
Biden obviously understands Trump’s business acumen which has an impressive trail of business failures — Trump Steaks, Trump Airlines, Trump University, Trump Vodka, Trump: The Game, Trump Entertainment Resorts, GoTrump.com, Trump Magazine, Trump Ice, Trump Mortgage, New Jersey Generals — and irks him with things like successful legislation like the CHIPS Act and Inflation Reduction Act (which now has renewables as the number 2 power generating source in the USA).
He understands Trump’s overblown ego will lead Trump to continue to lie and say dumb things in response to Biden’s legislative successes plus Trump’s own looming criminal trials statements like his friend Russia can have its way with European countries that don’t pay 2% of their GDP into a defense budget, he will only be a dictator for a day, confusing Nikki Haley with Nancy Pelosi plus Obama with Biden…
Biden knows Trump’s rambling tangents in his speeches will continue to lead to crazy talk. A good one at Trump’s CPAC (Conservative Political Action Committee) speech referred to Putin (the Poisoner). “He did announce the other day that he’d much rather see Biden as President, And I agree with him.” Of course, we know Putin wants his lackey Trump in the job so obviously an elderly person slip-up occurred. Putin is undoubtedly extra smitten with Trump to continue to support him when Trump as President announced in front of the world in Helsinki in that he believed Putin over his own intelligence agencies regarding election interference in 2016.
The crazies sure let it rip at CPAC. “Welcome to the end of democracy” started the applause lines that included important issues like a bear sex discourse by Candace Owens. Senator Tuberville informed the sparse crowd that your children do not belong to you but to the United States government.” According to Tuberville, this is due somehow to the “Marxist” Republican bogey woman Hillary Clinton. There was also talk of the pending “catfight” between Kamala Harris and Michelle Obama — heady stuff that just kept spewing out.
Trying to compete with Trump though is really an uphill battle. His repeated statement that rising sea levels provide a little more beachfront property and sea level will go up 1/8 inch over next 200 to 300 years is an example of his skill at fabricating anything he wants, anytime he wants, regardless of what the numbers or science may say. Perhaps a lie like that has to do with his waistline wishes which has increased undoubtedly more than the 4 inches that the sea level has already risen since 1992.
Meanwhile, the well-meaning elderly man with a poor memory keeps cleverly plotting away to persecute poor Donald and his pals by apparently forgoing his own supposedly autocratic ways and letting them continue to open their mouths.
