Sheriff race continues to runoff, tax assessor-collector race unclear

Last week’s election night concluded with many decisive victories, but two races in particular have yet to resolve.

Last week’s election night concluded with many decisive victories, but two races in particular have yet to resolve.

The race for Bandera County Sheriff continues with a runoff between incumbent Dan Butts, who received 33.88% of the vote, and Josh Teitge, who received 42.67% of the vote. WIll Dietrich finished with 23.45%.

Runoffs in Texas are scheduled for May 28. They occur when no candidate gets 50% plus one vote.

Despite trailing after early voting results were released, Reba Dolphus defeated Andrea Jankoski by 13 votes in the race for tax assessor-collector.

Dolphus resigned earlier this year as tax-assessor collector, and the county replaced her with Jankoski.

Bandera County Judge Richard Evans said it was too late for Dolphus to withdraw her name from the ballot, adding the county is waiting on a legal opinion before proceeding.

Dolphus and Jankoski did not respond to requests for comment.

COMPLETE RESULTS & CANDIDATE STATEMENTS

BANDERA COUNTY SHERIFF

Will Dietrich 1,313 (23.45%) Daniel R. (Dan) Butts 1,897 (33.88%) Josh Teitge 2,389 (42.67%)

JOSH TEITGE:

“What an incredible Primary Election for Bandera County!

“First and foremost, I want to personally thank every election official who selflessly donated countless hours of their precious personal time to ensure a smooth and efficient election process. I also want to congratulate all the candidates who won in their individual races and look forward to working together with the singular goal of making Bandera County a better place to work, grow, prosper, and raise our families.

“Personally, I am honored and humbled by the outpouring of support for me and my campaign. Not only did I secure the most votes in my race for Sheriff, but the Sheriff’s race was the one with the most votes cast by Citizens in this Primary over any other office. This undoubtedly shows the concern by our Citizens and their desire for a dramatic change in our County’s Law Enforcement.

“My resolve and determination to be your Sheriff continues to grow as we approach the upcoming Sheriff Election Runoff in May. I look forward to the opportunity for continued discussion about your needs for Law Enforcement as well as my plan for a safer and more secure community.

“For more information about my campaign priorities or questions please visit my Facebook Page at “Josh Teitge for Bandera County Sheriff” or my campaign website at “joshforsheriff.com”. I look forward to your support in the May 28 Runoff election and victory as your Sheriff of Bandera County.”

GREG SPENGLER:

“Thank you to all who have donated and supported me throughout this election, and to all who went to the ballot boxes and voted. I am humbled and blessed beyond belief.

“The numbers say I’m doing a good job, I was told so many testimonials, while standing at the library on election day, of how I have impacted the lives of so many people in our community by the job I have done in just three short years. Who knew? I was just doing my job as constable, friend, neighbor, human and treating people like I want to be treated. I am looking forward to many more years serving the people of Precinct 2 and Bandera County.

“I had some super supporters that went above and beyond that supported me along the way, to them I say thank you from the bottom of my heart. I could not be prouder to call this place home. BANDERA COUNTY REPUBLICAN PARTY CHAIR

Mark Miller 3,499 (71.15%) Conrad Striegl 1,419 (28.85%)

Mark Miller:

“In a resounding affirmation of participation, the voters of Bandera County have elected their new Republican County Chair, Mark Miller. With deep gratitude and a sense of duty, Mark steps into this role, committed to serving the community and fostering positive change. Drawing an analogy, he likens Bandera County to the roots of a tree — just as strong and healthy roots sustain a towering tree, the community’s foundation is vital for the growth and prosperity of the Republican Party. Love, akin to rich soil, nourishes these roots, enabling them to thrive.

“During the recent election, Bandera County made a significant statement, with the prevailing theme being “change.” Citizens expressed their opinions through the polls, casting votes for new leadership across all levels of government. Their engagement and commitment to our election process are commendable.

“As the new county chair, Mark is excited to continue this journey. The campaign focused on honesty, transparency, party growth, and putting Bandera County first — a commitment he intends to uphold. The hard work paid off, and Mark is proud of the team assembled. Bandera County’s desire for change was clearly voiced at the polls, and he expresses gratitude for the trust placed in him.

“However, the work is not done. On March 23 at 10 a.m., all Bandera County Republicans are asked to assemble at the Pipe Creek Community Center to vote on delegates for the state convention. Every Republican has a chance to become a delegate by either voting Republican in the primary or signing a Certificate of Affirmation. This step is crucial.

“While celebrating the victory, Mark acknowledges that some of his opponent’s supporters still hold seats on the executive committee. To all precinct chairs, he extends an invitation to work alongside him. Together, they can achieve great things. Standing united, the community can overcome any challenges that lie ahead.

“Together, we can overcome any challenge. Bandera County is counting on us for election integrity, honest leadership, growth, and transparency. Let’s not disappoint them. Always remember that love and commitment are the keys to flourishing the Bandera County Republican Party. At our first meeting, we will outline our plans for the future of the Republican Party in Bandera County. I hope you will come with an open heart and mind so the Republican Bandera County Executive Committee can heal and do positive things for our communities. I extend my heartfelt appreciation to all individuals who played pivotal roles in our victory. They know who they are. We invite everyone to attend our meetings. A detailed post will be made for our first meeting on our temporary website at www.miller4faithandcountry. com. Thank you, Bandera County!”

Conrad Streigl:

“I want to Thank all the people in the County and State that supported me and worked so hard for me and the many other Grass Roots candidates. I want you to know how much I appreciated Your Effort and Trust. We fought the Good Fight and ran a Clean Campaign without ‘Mudslinging’.

“If I had to do it again, I would change nothing. I will continue to fight for our Children in Austin, our Border Security, to KILL Property Taxes and Election Integrity. My goal has always been to get Trump back in office and save not only Texas but this country. That is still my goal.

“Again, I Thank You for all your support and hope each of you stays engaged and fights for our way of life. “My Thanks”

BANDERA COUNTY REPUBLICAN PARTY PRECINCT 204 CHAIR

Shirley Grohman 298 (59.24%) Laura Neeley 205 (40.76%)

Shirley Grohman:

“Thank you for placing your trust in me. Your support is not just a vote of confidence in my abilities but also a mandate for the vision we share for our community. To those casting votes my way; your faith humbles me greatly.

“To the endorsers and advocates; your belief, advice, and support have been invaluable. And to those who did not; I reach out with a spirit of cooperation, with the hope that together we can work toward our county’s collective good.

“To my Beloved Husband and Cherished Friend, I express my heartfelt thanks for your unwavering support and resilience throughout this campaign and beyond. Your encouragement has been a pillar of strength for me.

“As a dedicated citizen and your newly elected precinct chair, my eight-year journey of service to Bandera County has been fueled by a steadfast commitment to our collective well-being. Rest assured; this same commitment will guide my service to the Bandera County Republican Party.

“Now, the time has come to fortify the Republican party, beginning with Lakehills Precinct 204. We will transform it into an organization of repute, one that truly makes a difference. I am eager to bridge our differences with respect and understanding, and I am confident that together, we can achieve our shared objective: to bolster Republican voter turnout in Precinct 204 and throughout Bandera County.

“I am looking forward to engaging positively with every constituent. While we will not officially assume office until June 17th, the incoming Republican Bandera County Executive Committee will greatly benefit from your involvement, especially as we approach the November elections. The time to engage is now, as we intensify our efforts to steer our country in the right direction this November and ensure that Texas and Bandera County remain steadfastly Red.”
