The Vietnam War Veterans Recognition Act was signed into law in 2017 and designates March 29 of each year as National Vietnam War Veterans Day.
This day commemorates the last American troops departing from Vietnam on March 29, 1973.
As the nation honors these American heroes for their military service and pays tribute to their actions, Peterson Hospice will extend its recognition by hosting a Welcome Home Reception on March 29 at the Hill Country Veterans Center located at 411 Meadowview Lane in Kerrville.
“As a We Honor Veterans partner, Peterson Hospice is providing specialized care to veterans who are facing a life-limiting illness and their families throughout the year,” read a release from the organization. “This includes a veteran volunteer program, recognition of service certificates, and assistance navigating veteran’s benefits.”
In recognition of Vietnam Veterans Day, Peterson Hospice invites all to attend our Welcome Home Reception on March 29 at Hill Country Veterans Center at 10:30 a.m.
The program will include a presentation of colors by the Tivy JROTC, the National Anthem lead by Tivy Choir Quartet, a Missing Man table in honor of fallen, missing or imprisoned service members, and a pinning ceremony led by our local DAR chapter.
“Peterson Hospice has the privilege of supporting persons at the end of life and their families. It is an honor to care for those who have made a commitment of service to our freedom and our country,” said Gretchen Rye, Community Outreach Coordinator for Peterson Home Based Services. “Our veterans deserve the utmost respect for their sacrifices, and we are grateful for the opportunity to show our support.”
