Thursday evening, April 11, 2024, the Bandera County GOP Executive Committee met at the Silver Sage Senior Center at 6 PM. The meeting was open to the public.
After normal business items were addressed, the County Chair introduced Mr. Terry Harper, former State Republican Executive Committeeman, to speak about the upcoming State Republican Convention, convening in San Antonio on May 23.
Bandera County was assigned 17 delegates and 17 alternate seats at the State Convention. At the County Convention, on March 23, 17 delegates were elected with 4 alternates.
The purpose of the April 11 meeting was to educate those delegates who had never attended a State GOP Convention. That list included 13 of the 17 delegates. Of those 13, only 6 were present at the beginning of Mr. Harper’s comments, with 1 showing up late.
The meeting date was set one month in advance with the State Convention as the intended topic. Mr. Harper’s appearance was announced to all delegates via email by the County Chair.
It was also noted that two of the newly elected Precinct Chairs who signed up to be delegates were among the “no-shows”.
It is a sad statement that those who the newly elected Precinct Chairs who signed up to be delegates were among the “no-shows”.
It is a sad statement that those who ran and got elected on the promise to revamp the CEC from top to bottom, who claimed to care about Bandera County Republicans, and who signed up to be delegates couldn’t be bothered to attend an informal educational event specifically aimed to alleviate their ignorance.
