COMMUNITY TURNS OUT FOR NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER

BULLETIN PHOTO/ Tracy Thayer

Over 60 people gathered at the Bandera County Courthouse Lawn in recognition of the National Day of Prayer on the evening of May 2.

The national anthem was sung by Jennifer D’Spain, and local musician Dave Kemp sang God Bless the USA. Chris Dion along with Theresa Schultz thanked local American Legion members who helped with the service. The president is required by law to sign a proclamation each year, encouraging all Americans to pray on this day. On July 4, 1952, President Truman proclaimed the day be observed. President Reagan later moved the recognition to the first Thursday in May, where it has been slated since.
