Peterson Health Names Chasity Cox as 2024 Florence Nightingale Award Winner Chasity Cox, surgical nurse at Peterson Health, was named Nurse of the Year and received the 2024 Florence Nightingale Award on Tuesday, May 7 at the annual Nurses Week Celebration.

This award is the highest distinction a nurse can receive for their exceptional courage, devotion, and exemplary service in public health and education.

“The nurse selected this year, Chasity Cox, consistently upholds the highest standards of patient care and professionalism. Her nurturing spirit extends beyond her role, as she tirelessly mentors and supports her peers. Going the extra mile is simply part of who she is, and her selfless dedication to her patients and team is truly inspiring,” said Jodi Fleming, Director of 2 West. “Chasity is not only a Nurse of the Year for 2 West, but also a shining beacon of excellence for Peterson Health.”

Nominees are chosen based on their ability to go above and beyond the CALLING values of Peterson Health.

The CALLING values of Caring, Accountability, Learning, Leadership, Integrity, Nurturing, and Going the Extra Mile support Peterson Health’s mission and vision of providing exceptional, compassionate, patient- centered care.

“It is such a high honor to be named Peterson Health’s Nurse of the Year. I work with so many talented and passionate nurses, and to be recognized in this way is truly beyond words,” Cox said. “I am proud to work at Peterson where I know we all strive each day to provide the very best care to our patients. The gratitude I feel for those I work with, and the honor of this title is really something special.”

A total of 11 candidates were nominated from all departments through the hospital, including Jenifer Chapman, Hospice Clinical Manager, Chasity Cox, 2 West Nurse, Jodie Edwards, Home Care, Kerian Fisher, Acute Rehabilitation Unit, Lori Green, PACU/PRE-OP, ASC, Melissa Guzardo, PACU, Cheyenne Hunter, Emergency Department, Jessica Merino, Medical 3 West, Kristin Riley, Women’s Services, Natalie Smith, CardioCath Rad, and Dominique Young, ICU.
