You may thank your lucky stars that you live in Bandera and not some urban environment controlled by Socialists, which are the same as Communists, just without the power to enforce their dictatorship with weapons.
Recent articles in the BB indicate that they are seeking influence here.
To quote W.B. Yates, we have arrived at that time when “The best lack all conviction, while the worst are full of passionate intensity.” The “rough beast” slouches toward us, its footprints mirrored in the creeping subdivisions. Having mostly lost the Judeo/ Christian consensus that justified our original tyrant – free form of government, lying has supplanted merit as the tactic for upward advantage.
Mafiosi, Communists and other tyrants when recruiting supporters typically involve them in serious crimes to have something to guarantee their loyalty. Why do you suppose the Democrat party members always vote in lockstep on every issue while the Republicans are often of differing opinions?
The folk who live from paycheck to paycheck, in subsidized housing on government assistance have their rights that I don’t deny, but many have been reared with little attention from parents or the learning that made Western Civilization excel and have succumbed to the politics of envy.
The illegal alien population currently being bribed to mix their foreign culture here certainly exhibits that bitterness. Believing the lie that the economic pie is only of finite size and if some have more, they must be getting mine, they are subject to the contemporary version of slavery created by the Left.
If you think that those pulling the levers of government might have a vested interest in inflation; you’re on to something. Inflation is a burdensome tax on all of us that none of us voted for.
Despite what surprised our Cabbage Patch Grandma of a Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen or the stammering Chairman of Economic Advisors Jared Bernstein; it is entirely predictable and caused by government overspending and flooding the world with paper they call money.
Interest payments on our national debt have outstripped the Defense Department budget and it is not a discretionary expense. Only those in government are protected by their continually adjusted departmental budgets and expense accounts which seem to be limitless.
These are the people who live in fear of the supporters of Donald J Trump and are attempting to render him helpless with lawfare and character assassination. They are being disingenuous when they claim surprise and shift blame to those evil and greedy corporations. It is all part of their plan.
Inflation makes middle class productive people take on extra jobs, preventing them having time for managing their kids, going to church and getting involved in politics. Consequently, their kids are turned over to the government for indoctrination to become the next generation of useful idiots.
Atheists who questioned a prominent preacher about why Christianity apparently wasn’t bringing about the changes it had promised after some 2000 years were told that Christianity hadn’t been practiced and found wanting. It had been found too difficult and not practiced.
Something similar could be said about the current practice of Capitalism, or Constitutional Law. While this country was founded by revolutionaries, they were attempting to create order out of the chaos of the European landscape of continual war and the chaos visited on the lives of commoners by privileged elites.
We now see our formerly elite university campuses and large diverse cities consumed in lawless chaos. The privileged elites in charge of them caused much the same kind of chaos on campuses in their generation, therefore, they have not developed the moral clarity or confidence in their calling to quell the unrest and re-establish an environment conducive to their primary purposes of education nor governance.
Our country has not yet turned full blown atheist. There remains a vague shadow of the Christian consensus that values all life, even that of enemies, hence protestors feel no fear of retaliation that would be prompt and vicious in many of the countries they seem to idolize.
Our leaders regularly call for Unity, but Unity is not a first thing to be commanded. Firstly, a people must have common values to unify around. There is no unity among the thousands of varieties of churches claiming to be Christian and no devotion to spiritual or other authority.
Congregations divide over some element of theology or perceived abuse of a minority interest group and a schism spawns a new denomination or new religions generating their own “gospels” they claim as fresh utterances from God.
A recent example being the United Methodist Church which has given in and embraced the LGBTQ+ agenda, following along the path of schisms in the Episcopal and Presbyterian churches.
It remains to be seen whether the rebellious decision will result in two new churches. And so it goes in the economic realm. One interest group seeks to better itself above another they characterize as oppressors and a new economic theory is born in an attempt to “rig the system” in their favor.
Since there is a general absence of consensus, resulting from ignorance or lack of confidence in the founding principles, “the squeaky wheel gets the grease”, and the noisiest lobby gets the upper hand.
I will spare you repeating what I’ve written earlier at length to the BB on the dictatorial bent of Bureaucracy and their use of Non-Governmental Organizations to obscure their un-approvable actions, and the impossibility of making a Biblically based case for the current immigration policy as charity.
Suffice it to say; God hates a bribe, the original name for “free stuff”. More on economic principles and “fair taxation” later.
