The Bandera Convention and Visitors Bureau celebrated National Travel and Tourism Week with a backyard picnic on Tuesday, May 21. The event drew a crowd of over 100 including visitors from France, Germany and Guatemala.
As supporters wandered into the CVB, they were escorted out to the back where two tables of snacks and drinks were set up for their enjoyment.
The Bandera High School Culinary Arts classes under the direction of sponsor Stephanie Pitts provided a wealth of hot snacks, fruit, and cheese.
Wine and beer were available to complement the meal.
The Chamber Ambassadors came out along with a host of other Bandera notables. The crowd included such notables as Bandera Mayor Rebecca Gibson, business owner Shelly Kosmalski, CVB Chairman Greg Hicks, Sheriff Dan Butts and various Cowboys from the two re-enactor groups.
A table full of French tourists enjoyed the event as well as a group of German visitors.
Live music was provided by David Wayne and Doc Williams. Jennifer D’Spain sang to entertain the crowd.
Carita Jundt and Patricia Moore welcomed the supporters to the event. Chairman of the Board Greg Hicks gave a short statement about the importance of tourism to Bandera.
Bandera Mayor Rebecca Gibson read a proclamation from the city. It recognized that the National Travel and Tourism Week is an annual event that shows travel’s essential role in driving the county’s economy and stimulates economic growth.
The resolution recognized Don and Judy Hicks of the Mayan Ranch as the first citizens in the 1970’s and 1980’s who went abroad to tout Bandera as a place to visit. And finally, the resolution went on to state the importance of tourism to Bandera and the State of Texas.
Supporters of the CVB stayed well into the evening as they chatted and enjoyed the food and beverages that flowed freely.
