The Bandera Marshal’s Office is organizing a Trap/ Neuter/Release (TNR) event on Friday, June 14, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Bandera City Park.
During the event, a mobile veterinary team will spay or neuter the cats, administer rabies and FeLV (feline leukemia) vaccines, and address any other medical issues.
City Marshal Nancy De Foster stated that cats testing positive for leukemia or HIV, due to the contagious nature of these diseases, will be euthanized.
This first-come, firstserved TNR event is free for residents and business owners in Bandera. Those needing traps can request one via email at cowboycapitalcares@ gmail.com.
Additionally, the Marshal’s Office is seeking donations of towels, traps, and dry cat food to support the initiative.
The event, sponsored by Custom Glass and Mirror, TJ’s @ the Old Forge, Bandera EDC, and Loving Texas Pet Assistance, is exclusively for feral cats, not domesticated porch cats.
Owners of porch cats and pets can join a waiting list for future spay/neuter events by sending an email to the provided address.
To fund more TNR clinics, the Marshal’s Office will be hosting a fundraising activity at the Bandera Riverfest on Saturday, June 29.
Attendees can purchase tickets to dunk local elected officials and community leaders at the dunking booth or pay to release them.
Volunteers willing to participate can sign up by calling 830-460-7172.
