The Museum of Western Art (MoWA) is gearing up for its highly anticipated exhibition 'Two Perspectives: Scott Christensen & Quang Ho.”
According to MoWA's Executive Director Darrell Beauchamp, 'We've never had an exhibition that caught on fire as much as this one has. Every national Western art publisher contacted us for interviews about this exhibit. We are thrilled and honored to have two of the most lauded landscape artists in the country with us in what is leading up, in my opinion, to the Museum's most important exhibit ever.'
The exhibition, which opens Saturday evening, July 20, will feature an evening reception where art enthusiasts can meet both artists.
'We're inviting art enthusiasts to preview their work and meet these exceptional artists. Already, we have people traveling here from fourteen states for this special evening,” Beauchamp added.
About the Artists Scott Christensen, who resides in Idaho City, has drawn inspiration from nature throughout his life. Despite initially not aspiring to be an artist, a severe neck injury sustained during college football led him to pursue painting.
Encouraged by his grandfather, Christensen transitioned to art, eventually gaining recognition in major gallery and museum shows, including Russia’s Ilya Repin St. Petersburg State Academic Institute.
His works often depict the western mountain regions, particularly the Teton Mountain range.
Denver artist Quang Ho, originally from Hue, Vietnam, moved to the U.S. in 1975, the day before Saigon fell.
After his mother's tragic death, Ho became responsible for his younger siblings. His talent was evident early, leading to his first one-man show at age 16.
Ho graduated from the Colorado Institute of Art and quickly rose to prominence with the help of art dealer Mikkel Saks. His works span various subjects, including still-life, landscapes, and figurative works.
About the Exhibit The exhibition is a result of three years of effort by Beauchamp. 'It is a huge endeavor to expect artists to come up with 50 works each for an exclusive show, but the end result will be powerful and memorable,” he said. This marks the second joint exhibition for Christensen and Ho, following a smaller showcase at the Booth Museum in Georgia in 2021.
The opening reception will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on July 20 and is expected to sell out. A panel discussion with both artists will be held on Sunday, July 21, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., along with a podcast taping.

The Museum will be closed to the public from July 16 until the opening reception on July 20 for preparations.
