Rita Lee Carolan (Brooks), age 74, passed away peacefully in her home of more than 40 years in Helotes, Texas on Nov. 10, 2023. Her husband and soulmate of 43 years, Edward (Eddie) Carolan, was by her side and lovingly cared for her during her valiant battle with cancer, along with her life-long friend, Katherine.
Rita was a true daughter of the great state of Texas, with her family’s lineage dating back prior to its statehood. She was born in Bandera to Harold and Elsie Brooks and with her two brothers. Her father, a prominent member of the Bandera community, died suddenly when she was a young girl. Rita graduated with honors from John H. Reagan High School and was a lifelong learner, with a gift for business and a licensed real estate broker.
Rita and Eddie were full partners in life and in business. Together, they owned and operated a successful local remodeling business until Eddie’s retirement in 2013. Rita was very proud of her family. She was preceded in death by her son, Heathcliff (Suzanne), and survived by her husband Edward; son Dorian (Karen); daughter Krystal (Geoff); three granddaughters, Ashley, Audrey and Katlyn; two grandsons, Austin and Ian, as well as dear friends, extended family and her many beloved feline pets.
Rita was well known for her zest for life, her style and creativity, and her caring heart. Her loving memory will continue to shine and bless all who knew her.
