The Arthur Nagel Community Clinic announced Monday it received a Blue Impact grant from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas, an award reflecting BCBSTX’s dedication to community-based organizations that prioritize the well-being of children and families.
The grant recognizes the crucial role of local organizations in fostering positive change, tackling underlying factors that influence health, including socio-economic challenges, and promoting economic opportunities.
The grant will support the Nagel Clinic’s Well-Woman Services: Improving Health Outcomes for Low-Income Women in Bandera County. For women dealing with daily family struggles, immediate issues often overshadow their own basic health care. The Nagel Clinic’s Well-Woman Program is designed to ensure female patients receive programs and services that address current lifestyle issues and reduce the risk of chronic disease.
With an exam room and gynecologist dedicated solely to the specialty, the Well-Woman Program includes annual comprehensive physical exams, pregnancy testing, birth control, sexually transmitted infection screening and treatment, as well as cervical, breast, skin, and colon cancer screenings.
“This initiative highlights how corporate philanthropy and nonprofit vision can work together to benefit the greater good and the health of our residents,” Nagel Clinic Executive Director Chuck Lutke said. “This generous grant is an historic opportunity to make meaningful change for women in Bandera County for generations.”
BCBSTX has awarded more than $25 million in grants to community organizations statewide since 2011, touching the lives of millions of Texas children and families.
“Blue Impact grants help pave the way for healthier futures for children and families across Texas,” said Sheena Payne, director of BCBSTX community affairs. “We are proud to collaborate with this year’s recipients and look forward to witnessing the impact of their innovative programs on the communities we both serve.”
