All the booths had friendly volunteers.

A huge crowd of students and parents participated in the Annual Back to School Bash at the Lakehills Community Center Saturday, Aug 3.

One parent remarked that 'last year was a good one, but this year is even better.'

All manner of items necessary to set each student up for first-day success was provided by vendors and the community for free.

Tennis shoes, new clothes, haircuts, school supplies, hats, and many souvenirs were provided to Bandera County students.

There were over 50 booths with items for kids to make the new school year a success.

Snack items like icy push pops and popcorn helped fill the kids up while they visited each booth to get a stamp on their bingo cards. The cards were then turned in for prizes.

Entertainment was provided by a variety of singers including BHS choir director Katherine Holmes. The kids visited fun booths which gave out candy and treats while parents were able to get information on bus routes from the BISD Transportation Department.

BISD school administrators were on hand to answer questions and reassure parents.

The BHS Cheerleaders and Drumline were a hit and drew a big crowd to watch their performance.

Kids of all ages, from pre-kinder to high school attended the event and seemed to enjoy themselves. All left the event with backpacks of school supplies and free loot.

The Back to School Bash is an annual event co-sponsored by the Hill Country Samaritans and Bandera Independent School District. It is held at the Lakehills Community Center during the week before school starts each year.
