The Medina Independent School District (MISD) and the city of Bandera will hold public meetings ths month to discuss their proposed tax rates for the 2024 tax year.
MISD’s meeting will take place Monday, August 26, at 6 p.m. in the MISD Board Room, located at 1 Bobcat Lane.
The district will present its budget, which proposes a maintenance tax rate of $0.7869 per $100 and a school debt service tax of $0.0918 per $100, aimed at covering bonded indebtedness.
Public participation is encouraged.
On Tuesday, August 27, at 5:30 p.m., the city of Bandera will hold a public hearing at City Hall, 511 Main Street, to discuss its proposed tax rate of $0.47 per $100.
This rate exceeds the no-new-revenue rate but remains below the de minimis rate.
Residents may petition for an election to challenge the rate if it is adopted.
Both meetings are open to the public.
