Sharon Varner’s original oil paintings and her creative tole paintings are being featured during the month of October in the Lakehills Area Library, located at 7200 FM 1283.
“I’ve been interested in art from an early age and started painting in junior high,” Varner said.
From there she began using oils in high school and she majored in art education at Virginia State College.
While raising her son, she took up tole painting and began experimenting with other mediums.
Her family moved to Texas in 1995 and Varner joined Alamo Decorative Artists and the National Society of Decorative Painters, where she attended several conventions and workshops.
For many years Varner worked at Flying L Guest Ranch. While there she managed the Children’s Program and taught her “Texas Boots” painting.
Library hours are Monday, Wednesday, Friday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Tuesday, Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
