The newest restaurant in Pipe Creek, Monte Alteza, celebrated its Grand Opening on Friday, May 17, with the help of the Bandera County Chamber of Commerce.

The ribbon cutting was swamped with over 60 people from the area and the Chamber.

Owners Ruben and Carina Perales from Pipe Creek were all smiles as they filled glasses and brought out food to their hungry patrons.

As performer Johnny Saxx, a local favorite, played and sang some easy listening tunes, the crowd enjoyed wine, sangria and small bites.

The coconut shrimp seemed to be an overwhelming favorite, while the flatbread pizzas ran a second in popularity.

Monte Alteza specializes in tapas, which are are small portions of food designed to accompany a glass of wine or light beverages.

The menu is chef curated and designed to please those who want to enhance their wine experience with the perfect light bite accompaniments.

Cocktails and soft drinks are also available.

The menu listed five kinds of flatbread pizza from the commonplace pepperoni to a more exotic fig, prosciutto, and arugula pizza.

There were two charcuterie board selections, one designed to go with red wine, and one for those who prefer white wines.

There was even a small charcuterie designed as a wine glass topper on the tapas menu. Carina’s mother oversaw the kitchen bringing this restaurant a family flair.

Monte Alteza also offers two salads for those with a lighter appetite, Caprese Salad and Strawberry Arugula Salad.

Owner Carina Perales assured the crowd that the ingredients in their food were sourced locally in order to have the freshest vegetables and herbs.

The freshness of the fruit in the white wine sangria was noted by guest John Murphy of Boerne.

He sipped his sangria as he enjoyed an individual Mediterranean flatbread pizza. His wife enjoyed a large Strawberry and Arugula Salad.

Murphy mentioned that Monte Alteza was a great place for friends from Bandera and Boerne to meet and enjoy a glass of wine and great conversation.

He remarked that he and his wife and friends would definitely be back.

The friendliness of Ruben and Carina Perales was evident as they delivered food and wine to guests and circulated among the crowd welcoming new customers.

All of the staff working at the Grand Opening had excellent customer service and were smiling even though the large crowd was challenging. Perales noted that the restaurant was adding parking space to the side and mentioned the outdoor areas and gardens also available to customers.

The restaurant is the Perales’ dream and it shows in the care they take with every customer.

Monte Alteza is open Wednesday through Sunday starting at 11 AM.

Closing is at 9 p.m except for Friday and Saturday when the restaurant closes at 12:00 AM.
