The Arthur Nagel Community Clinic, in collaboration with Jastra Enterprises, recently announced its 10th annual Cork & Fork event, set for Saturday, Nov. 9, 2024.

“Cork & Fork is very important for Bandera and the Hill Country community,” said Clinic Executive Director Chuck Lutke. “It’s been going and growing for ten years in support of our mission to deliver topnotch health care to uninsured and underserved families.” This year’s event, themed “We’ll Go Honky-Tonkin’,” will be held at the Farm Country Club Pavilion, located 10 minutes north of Bandera.

The evening will feature a reception, dinner, dancing, auctions, and a raffle.

The highlight of the event will be the presentation of the Nagel Clinic’s Hometown Hero Awards to local honky-tonk legends Arkey Blue and James Mc-Groarty. Blue is the owner of Arkey’s Silver Dollar, and McGroarty has long owned the 11th Street Cowboy Bar.

These two figures have significantly influenced Bandera’s music, tourism, and economic landscape.

The event will begin at 6 p.m. with guests walking the red carpet and participating in the Marketplace For Good Silent Auction.

Dinner, prepared by local chef Aaron Gonzalez of the Backyard Bistro, will follow. Guests will enjoy Texas honky-tonk music by Weldon Henson and his band.

This year’s honorary veteran is Ron Clarke, a decorated former Law Enforcement Specialist with the U.S. Air Force who now volunteers with the Lakehills Community Center and the American Legion Post 410.

A special raffle will feature a restored 1928 Model A Tudor Hardtop, donated by Jastra Enterprises. Only 500 tickets, priced at $100 each, are available for this drawing. The winner does not need to be present to claim the prize. Clinic auditor Casey Mikeska of Massey Itschner & Co. will oversee the raffle drawing.

Robert Price of WOAI News4 will emcee the evening’s events, and Todd Odom will lead the auction. After the awards presentation, Weldon Henson will return to the stage to close out the night.

Tickets, table sponsorships, and raffle tickets are available at Outhousetickets. com or through the Nagel Clinic.
