Camerata San Antonio, an esteemed chamber ensemble, is set to enchant audiences with a series of “Bold Brilliance” string trios performed by a trio of distinguished musicians.
The ensemble will showcase a captivating selection of works by three extraordinary composers during three performances scheduled for April 5, 6 and 7.
The concerts are slated as follows:
• Friday, April 5, 4 p.m., Kerrville, at the First Presbyterian Church, located at 800 Jefferson St.
• Saturday, April 6, 3 p.m., San Antonio, at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit, situated at 11093 Bandera Road.
• Sunday, April 7, 2 p.m., San Antonio, at the Christ Episcopal Church, located at 510 Belknap Place.
According to Emily Freudigman, the violist of the ensemble, the program will feature compositions by Coleridge-Taylor Perkinson, Ethel Smyth and Ludwig van Beethoven. The performance will commence with Perkinson’s serene “Movement for String Trio,” a piece that integrates jazz and blues elements into classical music. Smyth’s “String Trio in D Major,” will follow, blending rich harmonies with emotive melodies.
Closing the program will be Beethoven’s “String Trio in E-flat Major, Op. 3,” characterized by its cheerful disposition and hints of Romanticism.
The concert will be performed by Laura Scalzo on violin, Emily Freudigman on viola, and Ken Freudigman on cello.
