Another COVID-19 death reported
The Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS) attributed another death in Bandera County to COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths in the county to 31.
Nineteen people are currently hospitalized in Peterson Health as of Monday, up from last week’s count of 12.
As of Monday, there were an estimated 14 COVID-19 cases in Bandera County, down from last Monday’s count of 24, according to TDSHS.
To date, there have been 1,077 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the county and 421 probably cases, according to DSHS.
As the delta variant spreads, the state’s positivity rate has exceeded ten percent for the first time since February.
COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations are on the rise again in Texas.
COVID-19 cases are up 60 percent from the week before last with a total of 36,451 cases reported by the Coronavirus Resource Center at Johns Hopkins University.
DSHS reported 4,137 new lab-confirmed COVID-19 patients in Texas, an increase of 30 percent from two weeks ago.
190 new deaths were reported statewide last week, just two less than the amount reported the week before.
The number of Texans fully vaccinated rose slightly to 12.51 million, about 43 percent of the state’s population.
