Private Deja A. Gamez, 18, of Bandera, graduated from United States Marine Corps Boot Camp at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island on May 22, Gamez’ family said. The private successfully completed 13 weeks of intensive training at Recruit Depot Parris Island as one of 59 recruits in Training Platoon 2032. The COVID-19 pandemic will keep Gamez from taking a 10-day leave at home, and instead the graduate will report directly to Camp LeJeune for one month of military combat training followed by four-to-six-months of Military Occupation Specialty School.
