County requesting public input on hazard mitigation plan

The Bandera County Office of Emergency Management is updating its Hazard Mitigation Plan and is seeking public feedback before finalizing the draft.

The Bandera County Office of Emergency Management is updating its Hazard Mitigation Plan and is seeking public feedback before finalizing the draft.

The plan, designed to reduce hazard vulnerability and protect lives and property, covers a range of natural disasters, including floods, drought, windstorms, and extreme heat.

The 172-page plan outlines risk assessments, capabilities, mitigation strategies, and actions aimed at minimizing disaster-related losses.

It is a key requirement by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for grant eligibility, helping secure funding to reduce the impact of future disasters.

The draft plan is available for public review until Monday, September 23.

Residents are encouraged to provide comments or suggestions by contacting Judy Lefevers, Emergency Management Coordinator, at [email protected].

To review the plan, visit banderacounty. org/page/emergency. management.
